Feeling stuck with software choices?
Here's why I'm switching tools and how you can get that flexibility, too.
I'm switching from MailerLite to ConvertKit for my email marketing - including this newsletter. As I write this, I'm doing the swap, so I'm crossing my fingers that I'm not creating Sunday Scaries for myself!
Why the Switch?
First things first, MailerLite is still a fantastic, powerful free tool. It's been great for managing my mailing list, and I still recommend it for many business owners starting to build newsletters and other marketing emails.
But as I release projects like Craft Order from Chaos and plan more digital tools for business owners like you, ConvertKit offers smoother integrations with WordPress for newsletter-subscriber-only content. This means you won't have to sign up again, and I can say goodbye to paying for MemberPress. Simplifying and saving? I'm totally in.
What I'm Gaining (and Losing)
I'm excited about ConvertKit's smoother workflow and better support for the areas of my business that I want to grow. While I'll miss some of MailerLite’s free features, like analytics dashboards and complex automations for email marketing, the ease of adding simple digital tools to my business offerings makes the switch worth it.
Get Out Your Notes App
As I mentioned at the start, I'm actually switching platforms as I write this email. Finding the right tools is important, but don’t stress too much about getting it perfect from the start. For many of us, especially if we struggle with decision paralysis, the key is to start with what works now and know we can adapt later.
The other reason I am doing this literally as I draft this week's newsletter is that I kept putting off changing tools because it never seemed like the perfect time. Spoiler: no time is ever perfect. I just had to pick a time and make it work.
If this sounds like you, take note of these two things:
- Evaluate Your Needs Now: Focus on the essential features for your business today rather than getting overwhelmed by options for a potential future.
- Check Data Portability: Make sure the software you choose can easily export your data so you can switch tools without hassle if needed.
If you’re considering switching to or getting started with a software tool, these two points will help you sort through all your options. And remember, if you need a hand figuring out which app to use in a particular area, I’m here to help.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right tools is about making your life easier and your business more supported. I'm excited about this new direction and its simplicity, and I hope it inspires you to find the right tools for your needs. As always, thank you for being part of this journey.
Wishing you a bright week ahead,
